A good Mac workspace for writers opens Pages, Obsidian, Safari and Music. ClapSnap opens all of them at once when you double snap, so your day starts without clicking through the Dock.
Writers protect the first hour. Opening only the draft, the notes and a playlist, and nothing that pings, makes it easier to start before the inbox does.
The apps
| App | Why it is in the list |
|---|---|
| Pages | The draft |
| Obsidian | Notes, outlines and research |
| Safari | Fact-checking |
| Music | A writing playlist |
Clap or snap?
Double snap. A snap is quick and quiet in a café or a shared flat.
The routine
Snap twice: the draft and your notes open side by side, music starts, and Mail stays closed until you choose to open it.
Tips for writers
- Keep Mail and Slack out of the morning list; add a second list for the afternoon.
- Swap Pages for your own editor: Word, Scrivener, Ulysses or iA Writer all work.
- Pair the routine with Focus mode in macOS to silence notifications.

Questions

ClapSnap opens apps. Most writing apps reopen your last documents, so the draft you closed is usually what you see.
Does ClapSnap keep what I say?
No. It listens for a clap or snap on your Mac and never stores or sends audio.
